Welcome to Dragon and a Dream
Greetings, I’m Jason; welcome to Dragon and a Dream!
These writings are to share what I learn and experience following my dreams while living life on the frugal side. With motivational flare for you to get fired up about following your own dreams.
Growing up, we have so many passions, and strong ambitions to go along with them. I was home-schooled until grade 5. This means the most important subconscious moulding years of my life were spent in pure freedom and leisurely delight. Not meaning I sat around doing nothing because I didn’t have someone commanding me to; instead meaning I was able to challenge myself at my pace, learn the things that I found captivating, and spend heaps of time with people that cared for and mattered to me.
My goal has ever been to get back to that state.
My passions are ever-growing and constantly changing. In fact, long ago, I read a quote by Muhammad Ali. I have never been able to recall where I read it, or when; it is as if the belief had intrinsically bloomed within: “The man who views the world at 50 the same as he did at 20 has wasted 30 years of his life.”
The people whose lives intertwine with mine markedly say I am always chasing a goal, working on a new project, trying to learn a new skill or strengthen an existing one. In general, I love being hungry and finding success in challenging myself.
This began when I was home-schooling, and I’ve done my best to continue, broaden, and adapt this lifestyle so that I can learn to support myself and family without sacrificing my freedom.
Who I am:
To a paint my picture briefly for you, I’m presently 27 years old, from Hamilton, Ontario, Canada. Working as a Lab Technologist for Mohawk College after recently graduating from their Electrical Engineering Technology program. Additionally holding a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Waterloo. Furthermore, I’ve been a successful cross country runner for many years – love running trails – and plan to continue being competitive in the sport. I’m also heavily into health & fitness, love reading, camping & outdoor expeditions, and dabble with chess, to name my present passions. Bonus: soon I want to be married and have kids.
Don’t worry: throughout Dragon and A Dream I will go into more detail about my life, interests, and the identity-shaping experiences I have had and am having. Furthermore, I have a more detailed bio in my About Me page
I am in the thick of life right now; researching and testing as I go. Consequently, I want to share the results I find: successes and mistakes. Then you can have someone close by to feed off of while you grow through your own peregrination.
What I will bring to the table:
This platform will keep you up to date with tips and tricks I learn to keep spending to a minimum, saving to a maximum, and living a happy, healthy life to the fullest.
If these posts positively impact your finances, personal growth, physical health, habit-building, family and friend relationships, or life in any way, it will have been worthwhile to write, and Dragon and a Dream’s mission will be successful.
Again, welcome and thank you for joining Dragon and a Dream. Please support me on my adventure, and accordingly, I will do my best to help make your dreams reality.

Jason
